Great stop for those that like to wet a line with chances of a big one. The lake has at least two large sponsored fishing tournaments per year (Bass & Crappie). It’s a busy water recreation area in the warm summer months. And, it’s a RV parking destination for many of the Talladega racing fans.
If you can catch it in a seasonal lull as we did during this stop-over you wont need a boat for good fishing as it’s really good around the docks when they are unused. A little top water plug or plastic worm will get a bass or two and live worms/crickets will fill your pail with pan fish.
The office/store has all sorts of fishing equipment and live baits. Mostly very reasonable because of the competition around the lake.
We stay here when planning for a couple of days rest/relaxation. Out on the Interstate is another of our regular stopping places when just spending the night. It’ll be in another post.
